Paige and Justin have been a couple for some time. When I got a call about doing their wedding I was thrilled. I remembered them from high school dances and proms at the Southern Huntingdon County High School. In fact, the picture that accompanies this paragraph is a photo I took in 2016 at the Southern Huntingdon prom.
We were lucky for the time of year and got a pretty good day as far as the weather is concerned. I was the DJ for this as well, so we set that up the night before.
We met the bride at the Iron Rail Bed & Breakfast. It was a treat to be able to see the inside of this establishment, although I don’t believe it was a normal setting with a bride and bridesmaids scattered all over the first floor. We took a few shots there and when the bride was dressed we headed outside to get some pictures with the bridesmaids. We had an awesome visit from a neighbor who saw Paige in the yard of the B&B. One of the bridesmaids invited him over where he posed for a few pictures and gave the bride a kiss on the cheek.
After that we headed to a location behind the before mentioned high school. I thought we were headed to a farm that was well known back in the day for late night visits by high school students after dances, but I was wrong. We were going to a property owned by the groom’s uncle. When we arrived the groom was there and this was going to be a first look. There was only one problem. A big gate! And, NO KEY to open it! We had to do some maneuvering to make things happen. The couple thought it best I not climb the gate, since i am only a couple of week from knee surgery. So we got the look and the couple headed to the top of the field where I took some photos with a big sky,
Now we were off to the wedding. Only a couple of miles away, I still had to hook everything up on the DJ system and get it ready for the ceremony. That was quick and it was show time. First the guys walked in, then the girls accompanied by the couples three dogs. One, and I don’t know the name, well had to go. The puppy did so mid walk to the wedding. Then the pup, from what I was told, wasn’t finished and stopped to go again. When I turned to look at the bridesmaid walking down the aisle with the pups, I noticed the dog had made about three trips around her and had her stopped mid aisle looking like Joan of Arch, tied to the stake.
Paige made her way down the aisle, where Justin was waiting and the ceremony was a go. The couple didn’t do the sand ceremony or the rope ceremony. For the second wedding this year the couple did a tree ceremony. They chose to plant a tree, which I think is great. As they and their family grow they can watch the tree grow as well.
After the ceremony it was photos with family and friends. That happened fairly quickly and the only issue I had was the ver changing sky. The sun was behind them so I was using a flash, but at times the sun was behind a cloud and sometimes it was not. It was a struggle, but because it was 4pm and I only had about an hour and a half of daylight we got through things as fast as we could.
We headed about an 8th of a mile to a pond to get a few pictures of the couple together. While we were there and getting some photos next to the water, someone said “Hey let’s put the bride on the truck!”. I wasn’t sure how that would look, but I do believe they are some of my favorites from this event.
After these photos it was back for the reception where we finished about 10 PM. It was a busy day, it was a long day and it was a great day. As we packed up and were ready to leave, I went back in the tent to thank Justin. He and Paige made me feel old as they told me that they grew up with me doing the school dances. I’m lucky to hear that kind of thing and even luckier when I am ask to be a part of their special day.
A few pictures are below and I will post more on my photography facebook page in the near future.
Thanks for looking and thanks to Justin and Paige!
