Another Sony Camera – Sony a9,
So, I have a Canon 5D Mark III. I love it and I think it’s a great and I wouldn’t trade it for.. Well I am starting to wonder if I would trade it. Today April 19th 2017, Sony announced another NEW Full Frame camera. The Sony Alpha A9, which is a 24.4 MP. It has a 20 fps burst shooting without the ‘blackout’ found on traditional DSLRs because of the electronic shutter. Really? My 5D shoots 6 FPS, wow!!
I have been very brand loyal and around a year ago when Canon released the 5D Mark IV, I was digging in penny jars and looking for things to sell, so I could buy one. Then I read reviews, watched videos and thought to myself, nah. It had a high MP that the Mark II, but I thought it lacked some things that Sony has been doing for a couple years.
The biggest thing that might be keeping me brand loyal these days would be the cost of switching. I read about a lot of photographers buying this or that. Spending a couple thousand dollars here or a couple thousand there. To put out $4500 dollars for a camera body is a no go. Then a couple thousand? Forget about it.
I guess I wrote this just out of frustration that I haven’t seen the kind of progress with Canon that seems to be happening with Sony and the Sony a9. I’ll keep saving and keep hoping Canon comes around. If you want to read more about the Sony a9 you can get all the specs from the Sony site or dpreview.com review. I like the dpreview, which seems to be more of an unbiased site.
Thanks for reading my complaint and I hope you come back for more. Not complaints! I’ll keep those to a minimum.
