Several weeks ago I talked with the executive director of the Huntingdon County Arts Council. I threw and idea his wan and he liked it. How about a show of 100 portraits? The definition of portrait when you google it goes like this:
por·traits
ˈpôrtrət,ˈpôrˌtrāt
noun
- a painting, drawing, photograph, or engraving of a person, especially one depicting only the face or head and shoulders.Sounds pretty simple, right? Well when I was reading a story on improving your photography skills the article said to set a goal for yourself. I thought about it for a little while and decided on what I wanted to try. I would like to try taking 100 portraits in this calendar year of 2018.By this, I do not mean booking 100 sessions and charging however much. I am not suing this as a way to get more sessions. No! I don’t want any money for it. I just want to try to do it.Another thing. I don’t want to just take photos of young people who are in their prime, no wrinkles, folks who take 20, 50 or a hundred selphies a week. Sure I hope to get to take some but I really want to try getting some faces with character. I want the photos to be black and white and the face to tell a story. So if you are reading this and would be interested in being one of the 100, awesome! Let me know, or if you know me and just see me around, just say something to me. No pressure. I understand that it takes a little courage to say “hey take my portrait”, but please, fear not.I really think this will be cool should it happen. If interested, there are a plethora of ways to reach me including this web site. Also facebook or again if you just see me out. It is not going to take long. Maybe five minutes, I’ll just ask you to look into the camera. You don’t even have to smile.
